STILL THE SAME

it’s the time of the year
when everything’s in bloom
and it takes me right to way back when

it’s like a window right there
in the scents and the sounds
and I can see right through
to where we were

so much time has passed
since we lay there in the grass

now we’re all in such a different place
but memories like these you can’t erase
yet every now and then we’re caught up in this game
cause in a way aren’t we still the same

just a bunch of kids
running through the streets
singing at the top of our lungs we felt so free

never knew where we’d crash
a bed was easily found
a crowded stage will do no need for sleep

we’d feel at home about everywhere
just as long as we were all there

now we’re all in such a different place
but memories like these you can’t erase
yet every now and then we’re caught up in this game
cause in a way aren’t we still the same

and isn’t it ironic
that sometimes we wish to turn back time
when we still
can hear the songbirds‘ singing
maybe it’s a good thing
that we don’t have the choice
cause now we can wallow
in nostalgia

now we’re all in such a different place
but memories like these you can’t erase
yet every now and then we’re caught up in this game
cause in a way aren’t we still the same
